Waiwhakareke Advisory Group

The Waiwhakareke Advisory Group (WAG) is made up of representatives from Hamilton City Council, University of Waikato, Waikato Institute of Technology (Wintec) and Tui2000. The group formed in 2005 by way of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). WAG partners have the following key functions that contribute to the overall management and development of Waiwhakareke Natural Heritage Park:

- Advise partners on management and governance of the park;
- Seek out advice on ecological restoration methods;
- Provide partners with advice on funding for the park and seek out funding opportunities;
- Foster the park’s recreational, research and education use consistent with its primary focus
   on ecological restoration;
- Advise of timing of park development; and
- Advise partners on means of achieving public commitment and involvement with the project.
